About Us
Northern Solstice Alpacas in beautiful Unity, Maine, established our farm in 2004. We built our own 30' x 50' barn from scratch. In August, 2006, we purchased our first 3 alpacas and our business was on its way. At present, we are home to 27 healthy alpacas, including 6 beautiful female cria born during the summer of 2011. Seven of our resident alpacas are boarded here at Northern Solstice by other alpaca owners. We operate our farm in a socially and environmentally friendly manner. The well-being of our animals is our priority. We are particularly conscious of bio-security measures and take all precautions to safeguard our alpacas.
NSAF is a well rounded and respected alpaca breeder offering a full service farm, including boarding, breeding, alpaca sales, a retail gift gallery, owner/breeder mentoring and more. We own show-quality champion alpacas, breeding and fiber quality alpacas. Our breeding philosophy begins with selecting animals whose lineage and characteristics are outstanding. We are committed to pairing animals for continuous genetic improvement. We utilize the most up-to-date practices and resources available. We founded the Alpaca Center of New England in 2009; an organization providing educational opportunities for all alpaca owners and anyone interested in learning more.
We, the owners, Robin Fowler and Corry Pratt, have expansive careers in the corporate realm with more than 30 years in Human Resource Management. We have honed our skills as professionals and now carry that experience into the world of alpacas. We have an incredible passion for these amazing creatures. We love sharing them with our community and beyond. Mentoring new owners is a labor of joy for us. We pride ourselves on our open approach and clear communication of all the details of raising alpacas.
